Norwood Road and the town centre

Norwood Road is West Norwood's main street. It runs north towards Tulse Hill and Herne Hill and south into Knights Hill, with cafés, restaurants, a library and arts centre, and the station. On the first Sunday of most months, the West Norwood Feast market fills the high street with food stalls and makers.

It gets busy. Buses, delivery vans and school traffic all squeeze through the same narrow road. Our drivers know where they can stop to pick you up without holding up the buses, and they will call you as they arrive.

West Norwood station pickup

West Norwood station sits on Knights Hill, with Southern trains to Victoria and London Bridge. Tulse Hill station, a little further north, adds Thameslink services.

We pick up and drop off at both stations. A car helps when you are carrying luggage, travelling with small children, or getting back late after the trains have stopped. Tell us your train time and the driver will be waiting when you come out.

Knights Hill car service

Knights Hill climbs south from the station towards the edge of Streatham and Upper Norwood. Plenty of our regular passengers live in the roads off Knights Hill and Norwood High Street, and many book weekly trips for shopping, appointments or work.

If you have a regular journey, we can set it up once and repeat it each week. Each trip keeps the same fixed fare structure, so there are no surprises.

West Norwood Cemetery and the local landmarks

West Norwood Cemetery, opened in 1837, is one of London's great Victorian cemeteries, with grand tombs and listed monuments. It is a popular place for walks and guided tours, and families visit graves there all year round. We drop off at the main gate on Norwood Road and can collect you again at a set time.

Brockwell Park and its lido are just to the north, a quick ride for a summer swim or a day at a park event.

Hospitals and appointments from SE27

King's College Hospital at Denmark Hill and St Thomas' Hospital by Westminster Bridge are two of our most common hospital runs from West Norwood. For local appointments, we drive to clinics and surgeries across Lambeth. If mobility is a concern, let us know and we will send a car that is easier to get in and out of.

Further afield from West Norwood

For trains from central London, our Crystal Palace to Charing Cross private hire and our minicab from Crystal Palace to Paddington both collect in SE27.

Heading on holiday? West Norwood is a good starting point for the Heathrow Airport transfer, as the South Circular is close by, and for the Luton Airport minicab.

Typical journey times from West Norwood

All times are typical and vary with traffic.

  • Crystal Palace, around 10 minutes
  • Clapham, around 20 minutes
  • Central London, around 30 to 45 minutes

Getting round the Tulse Hill gyratory

The one-way system at Tulse Hill is where the South Circular meets Norwood Road, and it confuses plenty of visiting drivers. Our drivers use it every day. They know which lane to be in and where to stop for a pickup near Tulse Hill station without blocking traffic. It is a small thing, but it saves time.
