Gipsy Hill Minicab

A Gipsy Hill minicab saves you the climb. Gipsy Hill is one of the steepest roads in South London, running from the top of Crystal Palace down to the station and on towards West Norwood and Dulwich. Our drivers are based just up the road, so pickups are quick and the fare is fixed when you book.

Why people book a car on Gipsy Hill

Walking down Gipsy Hill is easy. Walking back up with shopping, a suitcase or a tired child is something else. The road climbs sharply from the station to the top of the ridge, and the side streets off it are just as steep.

That is why so many of our Gipsy Hill bookings are short. A ride up from the station after work, a lift to the shops, or a trip to the top of the hill for a meal on Westow Hill. Short local fares are fixed like every other journey.

Gipsy Hill station pickup

Gipsy Hill station has Southern trains to Victoria and London Bridge, and it is a handy alternative to Crystal Palace station for people living on the western side of the ridge.

We pick up and drop off right by the station on Gipsy Hill. Tell us the train time and the driver will be waiting when you come out. Late at night, when the walk up the hill feels longer, a booked car is a real comfort.

Gipsy Road and Paxton Green

Gipsy Road runs east from the station towards Paxton Green and the edge of West Dulwich. The roundabout at Paxton Green is a busy junction with buses heading in several directions, and the health centre there is a regular stop for us.

The roads around Gipsy Road are mostly residential with tight parking. Add any helpful notes to your booking, such as a gate code or the best place to stop, and the driver will use them.

Private hire near Dulwich Wood

Dulwich Wood and Sydenham Hill Wood sit just to the east of Gipsy Hill. They are some of the oldest woodland left in London and great for a walk. We drop walkers and families at the nearest road entrances and can collect you again at a set time.

Dog owners use our pet friendly minicab to get muddy dogs home without worrying about the seats.

Further trips from Gipsy Hill

From the station, central London is a short train ride. With heavy bags, though, many people book a car directly. Our Crystal Palace to Victoria Station car service and the Crystal Palace to Euston Station transfer both pick up on Gipsy Hill.

For holidays, our Heathrow Airport transfer and minicab to Gatwick Airport start from your front door.

Schools and family trips

There are several primary schools around Gipsy Hill and the big independent schools of Dulwich are close by. Our school run minicab books term-time journeys in advance, with child seats on request.

Snow and ice on the hill

Gipsy Hill is one of the first roads in the area to become difficult in snow and ice. On those days, buses sometimes avoid it, and walking down the steep pavement is risky.
