Who books a minicab to Euston station?

Euston is the gateway to the West Coast Main Line. Avanti West Coast runs from here to Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow and North Wales. London Northwestern Railway serves Milton Keynes, Northampton and Birmingham, and the Caledonian Sleeper leaves for Scotland late every evening except Saturdays.

We drive all kinds of people there. Students heading back to university with a car boot full of boxes. Families off to see grandparents in the North West. Business travellers with an early meeting in Manchester. And quite a few people catching the sleeper with a big rucksack and a hiking plan.

Caledonian Sleeper transfer

The sleeper is one of the most popular reasons for a late evening Euston booking. Trains leave late at night, and you will want to arrive with time to find your berth and maybe grab a drink in the lounge.

We plan these pickups around a quieter road network, as evening traffic is usually lighter. The driver drops you near the station entrance, and you are inside within minutes. On the return, the sleeper arrives in London early in the morning. If you would like a car waiting for you, book it ahead and add the train details.

Euston's set-down arrangements have changed during the HS2 works, so drivers use the current drop-off point.

The route from Crystal Palace to Euston

Euston is about 10 miles from Crystal Palace. Drivers normally head north through Brixton and Kennington, cross the river at Vauxhall Bridge or Waterloo Bridge, and then work north through Bloomsbury or along the Marylebone side to Euston Road.

Typical journey times are around 45 minutes in light traffic and up to 65 minutes at busy times. These are estimates, so build in extra time if you have a fixed train booking. Part of the route crosses the Congestion Charge zone, and private hire vehicles pay the charge during charging hours.

Peak times to watch

Weekday mornings are slow around Vauxhall, and Friday afternoons are busy along Euston Road itself as people head out of town. Sunday evenings are packed with students and weekend visitors returning to the station. Book a little earlier than you think you need on those days.

Euston drop-off and pickup

Euston has been surrounded by HS2 construction for several years, and the roads and set-down points around the station have changed more than once. Our drivers follow the current arrangements and drop you as close to the main entrance as they are allowed.

For pickups, tell us your train and expected arrival time. The driver will agree a meeting point by phone. If your train is delayed, call our 24 hour line and we will move the pickup. Waiting time beyond the agreed slot may be added, and we will tell you first.

Students and big loads

Start and end of term is our busiest time for Euston. A saloon will not take a duvet, a desk lamp and three bags of books, so choose an estate or a 6 seater minicab. The driver will help load the car. Tell us what you are carrying when you book, and we will send a car with enough room.

Arriving at Euston from the North

Avanti trains from Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow arrive throughout the day and late into the evening. After a long journey, a car home to SE19 is far easier than a Tube to Victoria and a train back south.

Give us the train number and time when you book. If your train is held up north of Milton Keynes or stuck outside the station, call us and we will move the pickup. Our team watches the clock so you do not have to.

Business trips to Birmingham and Manchester

Plenty of business travellers use Euston for day trips to Birmingham and Manchester. An early train means an early pickup, often before 6am. We are used to those times and will have a car outside your door when you need it. Book an executive car if you want to make calls on the way in, and ask for a receipt by email for your expenses.

Which car should I book?

  • Saloon for up to four passengers and around two large cases
  • Estate for extra boot space, ideal for students and long trips
  • MPV for up to six passengers with luggage
  • 7/8 seater for groups, see our 7 seater minicab

Child seats are available on request.
