Getting around SE25
South Norwood grew up around the railway. Norwood Junction station sits at its centre, with Station Road and the High Street leading off towards the Stanley Halls and the famous clock tower. Portland Road runs east towards Woodside, lined with shops, takeaways and terraced streets.
Traffic builds quickly here at school times and in the evening rush. Our drivers know the short cuts between Selhurst Road, Holmesdale Road and the back streets, which helps when the main roads clog up.
Norwood Junction minicab pickups
Norwood Junction is a busy station, served by Southern trains and the London Overground Windrush line. People book us to get to and from the station with heavy bags, or when their train arrives late and they would rather not walk home.
For pickups, tell us your train and which side of the station you will come out on. The station has entrances on both sides of the tracks. The driver will call when they arrive and agree the exact spot.
Selhurst Park match day car
Selhurst Park sits on the western edge of South Norwood. On match days the roads around Holmesdale Road, Park Road and Whitehorse Lane get very busy, and some streets close for safety.
If you are heading to a game, book early and tell us you are going to the match. We will drop you as close as the closures allow, then collect you at an agreed point after the final whistle. Expect a short walk to the car, as the area right outside the ground is busy for a while after the game.
The lake, the country park and local walks
South Norwood Lake and Grounds is a quiet spot off Auckland Road, and South Norwood Country Park stretches out towards Elmers End. Both make a good half day out. We drop families and dog walkers at the entrances, and our pet friendly minicab means the dog can come too.
Hospital trips and appointments
Croydon University Hospital in Thornton Heath is a short drive from South Norwood, and we run there every day. We also take patients to King's College Hospital and to clinics in Croydon town centre. For appointments, book the return at the same time or call us when you are ready to leave.
From South Norwood to central London
For longer rail journeys, many people still prefer a car into central London. Our Crystal Palace to King's Cross minicab and our Waterloo Station minicab both pick up across SE25.
For holidays, we run the minicab to Gatwick Airport, which is especially quick from this side of Crystal Palace, and the Stansted Airport transfers for flights from the north-east.

South Norwood has a famous former resident. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle lived on Tennison Road in the 1890s, and wrote some of his Sherlock Holmes stories while living here. A blue plaque marks the house. It is a nice detail for visitors exploring the area, and we are happy to drop you there.
